It barely ever rains in Santa Barbara... But my last two craft fairs have had heavy rain all day, reducing attendance drastically. This was frustrating for me because I put more than 100 hours into making the art, labeling/pricing, advertising, and preparing for these events... At a normal job you work 40 hours and get paid for 40 hours. As an independent artist it is possible to work 100 hours and lose money when things like this happen... But the good news is that I did have a few good sales at this 2nd craft fair and I have a massive inventory to stock my etsy shop with. I now have a personal record of more than 50 items in my etsy shop! So here's to hoping the online marketplace will be a good medium to share my art and earn some for myself and good causes, like the Environmental Defense Fund :)

November 30th, 2019 - I was going to be a part of a large, 39th annual Holiday Craft Faire in Carpinteria, CA... But then a rare event happened in southern California, it rained all day! More than 75 vendors were there selling crafts, food, music, and more but due to the weather barely anyone came and we had to close early, losing money overall :/ A LOT of work goes into events like this so it was a bummer to have it turn out like this, but I won't quit. There will be more shows in the future!
