Santa Barbara's premiere and only bookstore is hosting my first ever book signing and letting me perform some spoken word at the event! I've been posting flyers around town and building the hype. The Santa Barbara News Press also listed the event in the newspaper and Chaucer's made a flyer for me and posted it in their store. The flyer has a quote from my Dad on it which is cool because he helped instill my love of books so it is cool to see both of our names up on the wall of a bookstore. Really looking forward to this event! The Art of Life coming at ya!

For more than 2 months I worked on my application for UCSB's Masters in Fine Arts program. And for more than 10 years I have been making art and teaching. I had reference letters from 2 local principals, a PhD graduate, and a founder of a non-profit. I created a vast 20 piece portfolio of my art and gave every possible bit of effort to write my two entrance essays... Only to find out after waiting for 3 months that I got "denied". What fools they are?! They are missing out on such a creative and motivated force, they don't even know! They told me later their reasoning was because my art is "too eclectic in style and medium". I know I dabble in a lot of mediums and styles (woodburning, drawing, painting, photography, jewelry, poetry, and more...) but that is how my creativity flows! They recommended I focus on one practice for a year and reapply but I don't know if I want to do that. That feels limiting. Maybe this is a sign I should go to another school? No matter what, I will not give up on my dreams! Michael Jordan was denied from playing on his high school basketball team and became the greatest to ever play the game so I know this won't stop me. I guess this specific plan wasn't in the cards for me. But don't worry, I hustle hard and believe in myself so this will only stoke my fire.
